Highlight Of The Recent Policies For Electronic Components Manufacturing:
1. Scheme For Promotion Of Manufacturing Of Electronic Components And Semiconductors (SPECS)
To make India self-reliant in manufacturing of Electronic Components and offset the infrastructure disability, Government has announced a new Scheme SPECS to provide a financial incentive of 25% of capital expenditure for the manufacturing of specified goods. Capital Investment shall include:
- 1. Plant, machinery and associated utilities.
- 2. Research & Development
- 3. Transfer of Technology including the cost of Technology
- 4. Refurbished Plant, machinery & equipment
Note: The expenditure incurred on land and building required for the project/unit will not be considered towards eligible capital expenditure.
Application to avail the incentive of the scheme will open for 3 years starting from 1st April, 2020
2. Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) For Large Scale Electronics Manufacturing
In India, electronics manufacturing has grown rapidly & India is playing a major role in global supply chain. To create a conducive environment for manufacturing, Government has announced PLI Scheme.
The Scheme shall extend an incentive of 4% to 6% on incremental sales (over base year i.e. F/Y 2019-20) of goods manufactured in India and covered under target segments, to eligible companies, for a period of five (5) years subsequent to the base year.
